I am an SNSF Postdoctoral Fellow at Caltech, where I work with Prof. Julia Kornfield on biolistic ocular drug delivery. My research aims to design multilayered particles that are dense enough to penetrate the corneal epithelium, yet sufficiently porous to encapsulate active agents for sustained release. I completed my PhD in Materials Science at ETH Zurich under the supervision of Prof. Jan Vermant. My doctoral research focused on the influence of colloidal surface roughness and morphology on the microscopic dynamics and macroscopic rheology of gels under shear. As a foundation for these studies, I developed a modular, thermo-reversible colloidal gel system using click-like chemistry. I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and conducted my Master’s thesis in Prof. Robert Langer’s laboratory at MIT, in collaboration with Dr. Owen Fenton, working on 3D bioprinting of two-component hydrogels.
